Riegel & Blatt's Bio
(Also, view Riegel & Blatt's resume.)
Sam Riegel & Rob Blatt are a film, TV and live comedy writing team who won the 2004 Austin Film Festival's Teleplay Competition for their "Curb Your Enthusiasm" spec script.
The duo met while undergraduates at the University of Virginia, and teamed up in the New York improv comedy scene after stints as a gritty independent filmmaker (Riegel) and a fancy-pants Washington lobbyist (Blatt).
While in New York, the team earned their first professional comedy writing credits with Nickelodeon and the erstwhile fashion and culture magazine, Abercrombie & Fitch Quarterly. Now in Los Angeles, their television, Web and commercial credits also include Spike TV, The New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, JibJab.com, and Sprint.
They also wrote and co-produced a political sketch show pilot presentation for the cable network The Political Channel; and an animated cell phone series ("mobisodes").
Sam and Rob have also written, produced and starred in short films that have screened at numerous film festivals, including:
-
Channel 101
-
Malibu Film Festival
-
Silver Lake Film Festival
-
Chicago International Children's Film Festival
-
California Independent Film Festival
As the two-man sketch and musical comedy act, Riegel & Blatt, the duo has performed at New York's famed Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, L.A.'s House of Blues, and the Comedy Central Stage. They are an official selection at the Chicago Improv Festival, and the Chicago, San Francisco, Ha! (New York), and Seattle Sketch Comedy Festivals.
